Merry Christmas!

And a happy New Year to all of you reading this.

My holiday season is filled with laughter, family, and new crafting creations. I'll have new things up in Etsy soon, but here's one of my new creations courtesy of a free pattern (that I altered significantly) from creativeyarn.blogspot.com

It's a beret, in case you didn't get that.

Happy holidays. God bless us, every one.

Christmas Giveaway

***Sticky Post -- Scroll down for new posts!***

Okay, so I told you it was coming, now here it is: my Christmas giveaway.

The prize this time, rather than being a specific hair comb or barrette, is a gift certificate to my Etsy shop. To be exact, it is a $15 gift certificate. To make sure that the winner receives the items they choose in time for Christmas, this contest will be closing on December 16th at midnight.

The rules are simple and easy to follow. All you have to do is go to my Etsy shop, find your favorite item that's up for sale and come back here to this post and tell me in a comment. This will get you one entry. You can do this twice if you so choose (separate comments, please) to get a second entry.

For an additional five entries, you can blog about this contest with links back to this post and my Etsy shop. Just make sure to leave a comment here to let me know that you did this.

The winner will be chosen on December 17th and an email will be sent out immediately following, so please make sure to put your contact information in the entry. If the winner does not reply within a few days, a new winner will be chosen.

Good luck to you all.

One Love

I am definitely feeling the love today! I've been promoting myself on Etsy since I got back from school (and the apartment I need to clean wasn't ready for me yet) .... and I got not one, but TWO sales! In one day. That makes me happy inside.

One was an alchemy order for a black and red scarf to be shipped out Saturday, and the other was for a custom comb made to resemble the other comb in my shop that's sold. Go figure.

And so, I leave you with this: A great song, for a great day.

Activism

I feel so proud of myself today. I just finished tutoring and during the session today we were working on a paper that had the prompt: "Why is it important to search out the truth?" The articles that were required were about civil rights and the subjectivity of truth (especially during war time). I started mentioning different things about history. Stalin, Al Capone, slavery, gay rights, women's rights, and the like.

After a while one of the girls told me, "You know, you make me feel like high school was a waste of time. We didn't really learn anything like the stuff you're teaching us." I don't think I'm really teaching them anything, though. I'm showing them a way to live without blinders on.

The girls also told me that I was making them angry by telling them all this stuff. Mostly that the stuff I was talking about was making them angry. My response was, "Good. It should make you angry. Injustice should make you so angry that you not only want to do something about it, but that you have to do something about it."

And that made me smile. I think I might have contributed to the birth of seven more activists.
